Something that I am very excited about right now:

Girls Camp

I found out a couple of weeks ago that I get to be a camp "craft specialist" and the "camp nurse" at our Stake Young Women's Camp this year. I think I quite possibly could have the 2 best jobs at camp. PLUS, since I am going with the Stake I guess that I get to stay in the lodge and everyone else has to camp in tents on cement slabs, which, believe it or not, I am not dissapointed about missing.

We had our first meeting last night and the theme is going to be "Someone Needs Your Star" It's kind of an off shoot from the youth theme this year of being "steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works." The theme is a line is borrowed from a song by Jenny Phillips which you can listen to here: http://www.jennyphillips.com/music_yw2008.htm

I just watched a video on that same page called "To Become like Him" which was pretty awesome too.

I'm a little out of touch because I'm not actually in YW. I'm a sunbeam (3yo) teacher going on 1 1/2 years now. (Ok I guess I'm not that out of touch-it's not like its been 59 years since I was 16-but still) So I know that some of you serve in YW and I could use some suggestions for crafts. We're thinking something with a star some how incorporated to the craft, but that's not even for sure. Actually I forgot a huge stipulation: our budget is $2-3 dollars or so per girl! So if there's anything you've done or seen recently that 12-18 year old girls would go crazy about, send me some suggestions! THANK YOU

I don't know how much of a "craft" this is, but I love the vinyl on tile. I made one that has the 6 b's on it. I am sure if you order a bunch you might get it for cheap. Maybe I'm thinking too "high-tech". When I was in girls camp I decorated a mat with dried flowers for the family proclamation... that's cheap. I don't know if these are good ideas, I'll keep thinking...

Very fun! I'm in YW right now and it is very fun! Have you ever done magnet boards?? They can be fun and they are cheap. I can explain more if you're interested.

Dang it. I wish we were still in the same stake!! Because I am YW's and will more than likely go too! Wish it were together, =(! I am sure you will be great. And as for crafts for YW, I have no clue. I love crafts...but they always cost more than 2-3 dollars. But if I think of anything...I will definately let you know!! We need to hang out some time soon. Hope you are doing well!

okay, I totally thought I commented on this earlier, but I didn't! Merlis...or however you spell that...you are going to be so great at this! Girl's camp was always the best when you had young cool leaders...and now that's YOU. Jealous! Unfortunately I am not sure of any cheap craft ideas...I know we decorated cheap picture frames (well more like the mat that goes in a picture frame, and then we used them as just a picture frame...does that make sense?) once with like sand and sea shells...girls love picture frames. Not that that's the best idea, but hey. I'll keep thinking, and if I see anything I'll shout a holla. Oh maybe check out this site www.sugardoodle.net okay weird I just tried to go there and it said "forbidden" but I know i've gone there before. Maybe they are experiencing technical difficulties. They have all sorts of cute ideas for mormon people. I'm sure they have crafts for YW age. This is long!
